Coach Brad Silvey enters his 4th season coaching at Iowa Western Community College. After assisting both the Men's and Women's Soccer Programs for three years, Silvey now enters his first season as Head Coach for Women's Soccer. After only three years with Iowa Western, Silvey has assisted the men’s program to an overall 39-18-3 record and the women’s program to an overall 60-7-3 record resulting in four conference championships, four Region XI titles, four district appearances, two district titles, two national tournament appearances and two 2nd Place finishes at the NJCAA National Tournament.

Coach Silvey brings to the coaching staff an incredible soccer-based background and playing career. He began playing recreational and competitive soccer in Missouri. He moved to Utah at the age of 12 where he played for a competitive club called the Utah Rangers. While with the Rangers, the team earned six Utah State Championships (one of which Silvey scored the game winning goal) and made seven appearances in the Far Western Region Tournament. In 2001, the team finished 3rd in the Region Tournament placing them as the 13th best club team in the nation. Silvey also participated in Utah ODP and represented the state of Utah at ODP Region Camp for two years, one year resulting in a 2nd place finish in the Region. Silvey also lettered all four years while playing soccer for Springville High School in Springville, Utah.

Collegiately, Silvey was recruited to play at various levels and schools. Ultimately, he chose to attend Iowa Western Community College in the program’s inaugural season. Within two years at IWCC, Silvey helped captain the newly formed team to an overall 24-9-4 record resulting in one ICCAC Conference title, one Region XI title, one Great Lakes District appearance (district runner-up finish), Academic All-American (2005), 1st Team All-Region (2004, 2005), and NSCAA All-Region Honorable Mention (2005).

Silvey began his coaching career with a local competitive soccer club called Council Bluffs Futbol Club (CBFC). While with CBFC, he provided training and assistant coaching for ’93, ’95, and ’96 girls and head coaching duties for ’95 and ’96 girls. He also served as the Technical Director for the club and provided technical training for all age groups within the club. Silvey was also highly involved in coordinating with CBFC and CBYSA (Council Bluffs Youth Soccer Association) in forming Council Bluffs’ first soccer Academy. He has coached at the Iowa ODP Developmental Camp and is also the head coach for the girl’s soccer program at Glenwood High School. Silvey currently holds a USSF National “B” License and his NSCAA State and Regional Goalkeeping Diploma.

Coach Silvey graduated with an A.S. Degree from Iowa Western in the Spring of 2006 and went on to earn his B.A. Degree majoring in business and marketing from Buena Vista University in the Spring of 2008.
