The Iowa Western Women's Soccer team continued their winning streak today as they defeated Dakota County Technical College in a 5-1 contest.
Jenna Brady opened the scoring mid-way through the first half. After receiving a pass from Canada Clawson, Brady advanced the ball straight through the DCTC defense and laced a screaming shot into the side netting of the Blue Knight goal.
Only minutes later, Clawson beat her mark in the corner and serviced a ball onto Chamea Palmer's head to put the Reivers up 2-0.
Near the 30th minute, Lyndie Heaps received a pass from Chamea Palmer about 30 yards out from the DCTC goal. Heaps fired a shot that cleared the DCTC goalkeeper and fell into the back of the net.
The IWCC defense would then show a lapse in organization as the Blue Knights found the back of the Reiver net after a ball was mis-handled in front of the frame. Julie Rath quickly pounced on the loose ball and slotted it past goalkeeper Kelci Little, taking the score into halftime 3-1.
In the 47th minute, Jenna Brady intercepted the ball near the mid-stripe, and uncontested, pushed the ball clear into the DCTC penalty area and placed the ball into the back of the net, pushing the Reivers ahead 4-1.
The final goal of the game came in the 77th minute when Amanda Wilcox pushed the ball along the byline deep in DCTC territory and slotted a pass to an unmarked Lacy Phillips who poked the ball in just in front of the onstanding Blue Knight goalkeeper.
