The Reivers kicked off their 2009 pre-season in Feyette, Iowa by beating Upper Iowa University (Division II--NCAA) 2-1.  The Reivers' first pre-season match consisted of three thirty minute halves.  As both teams tried to find their form, the Reivers traded opportunities with UIU in the first half.  But in the second half, the Reivers created two goal scoring opportunities.  Josue Armijo connected a forty yard pass to an on running Craig Butcher who diced up two UIU defenders before sending the ball across the goal mouth which hit off of a UIU defender into the goal.  The second goal came minutes later as Klees Loembet picked the ball off of an UIU midfielder who passed to Josue Armijo.  After a couple of touches, Armijo let loose from 30 + yards driving the ball into the back of the net.  Ethan Bartels kept a clean sheet in 60 minutes of play.  The Reivers allowed UIU's only goal in the third half because of slow defensive transition.  "The boys played hard today.  We have a great team and we only look to get better from here on out."--Coach Carver
