After the first round at the Iowa-Kansas Clash, the Iowa Western Reivers sit in third place, just six shots behind leader Indian Hills CC. Conditions were tough in the first round. Golfers battled cold temperatures and a wet course. The Kansas City area saw about an inch of rain Sunday afternoon and evening.
Leading the way for the Reivers was Mark Stovie, who fired a round of 1-under par and is the individual leader after day one. Also firing rounds in the 70s were Greg Pohlmann (77) and Tommy Wingert (79). Rounding out the scoring was Kevin Stanek (80) and John Matthews (83). Competing as an individual medalist was John Cantril (83).
The tournament will resume Tuesday morning at 8:00 am with the individual medalists leading the way. The final groups will be Indian Hills CC (301), Dodge City CC (306) and Iowa Western CC (307). Also competing in the tournament is Kansas City Kansas CC and Johnson Count CC.
