Cross Country
Reivers Continue Strong Season at NIU Open

The Iowa Western Men's and Women's cross country teams had their first non-home meet of the year this weekend, and both teams continued their excellent seasons. Running first place for the men's team, and first overall, was Isaiah Samoei who broke the course record and ran an uncontested 25:39. This was Samoei's third consecutive week setting a course record. Filling out the top five for the Reivers were sophomore Nathan Carr (7th 27:08) and freshmen Kyle Blue (10th 27:20), Justin Hazard (15th 28:04), and Bryant Rader (20th 28:48).  As a team the Reiver men placed 3rd out of six teams with 53 points. The meet was won by UW Milwuakee with 31 points.

 

The Women's XC team also had a great race. Their lead runner was freshman Kaylee Fly who clocked in at 20:22 which was good for 15th place overall. The next Reiver to cross the line was Gladys Downing who ran a 21: 40 putting her in 41st position. Following Gladys in were Dana Miller (55th 22:04) , Sarah Jeptleting (59th 22:15) , and Keya Rohlman (65th 22:35) The women took 8th out of nine in the team competition scoring 197 points. Northwestern took the womens title with 35 points.
