Iowa Western Reivers

Reivers snag Missouri Defender

Savannah Downing, a defensive specialist from Carthage, Missouri, signed her Letter of Intent with the Reivers last Wednesday. She is currently a senior at Carthage High School, where she lettered in volleyball three years on the Varsity squad. During her time as a Tiger, she helped her team win a District tittle for the first time in 33 years. She also lead the team in aces all four years.  In fact, she set a district record with 19 serves in a row (13 of those being aces) in one set. Savannah’s outstanding performance and hard work ethic helped her earn awards like the Tiger Pride Award (two years) and Defensive Player of the Year. She also received All-District, All-Region and All-Conference First Team honors her senior year.

This spring, she is currently playing with Performance Volleyball club. Although Downing stays busy playing volleyball year round, she still manages to keep her academics a priority, receiving Academic All-State honors each year and maintaining a 4.0+ GPA.

Savannah is the proud daughter of Chally and Steve Downing.  She would like to study something in the medical field, but plans to go into general studies at Iowa Western.  Please welcome Savannah to the Reiver family!
